Do you ever struggle knowing how to review Spanish content at the beginning of the year, a semester or after a long break? I know that this has been a struggle for me over the years. This Skittle review game is engaging for students and is a great way to review up to five Spanish questions in one game. All this game requires is a bag of Skittles and five questions that you want to ask your students.
All right now for the details
First I type my questions and standard answers out to fit a standard piece of paper and copy them onto the five colors of Skittles: orange, red, purple, green, and yellow.
I used the questions: ¿Cómo te llamas?; ¿Cuántos años tienes?; ¿Cómo estás?; ¿Cuál es tú color favorito?; ¿Adónde vives?. Feel free to use any review questions you want!
Then I have my class sit in a circle. I hold the 5 question cards so that I can hold up the correct card after each student has chosen their skittle.
Next the first student grabs a Skittle and answers the question based on the color skittle that they grab. After answering the question they get to eat the skittle.
Then I continue for as long as I want the game to last. I find that in my 3rd-6th grade classes of 24 students 2 or 3 rounds works best.
This game takes about 15-20 minutes in my class.
Assessment
This activity is great for some quick formative assessment. As students answer questions I check to see
Can they answer without help?
Do they use a full sentence?
Can they answer quickly or does it take time?

I hope that you find this Skittles review game helpful. If you use it let me know how it goes and what questions you chose to use.
