About Me

Hi there! I am Jordana, an elementary Spanish teacher based in Spokane, WA. I was born and raised in Venezuela for the first 18 years of my life. I moved to Washington for college and have been here ever since then.

Why Spanish?

I have always had a passion for teaching but it took me a while to find an area where I really feel I could thrive as a teacher. I started my teaching career in a dual language, third grade classroom, taught in a reading intervention program, and then began teaching elementary Spanish. I currently teach part time at two different elementary schools and love every minute of it.

My classroom

I teach using lots of games, authentic songs, TPRS whenever possible, and simple books. I also love to incorporate interactive notebooks in my class. I am still developing my teaching style as a grow as a teacher. My goal is to get my students to enjoy learning Spanish and have as much time to practice as possible.

Family

I am also a mom of three kids that keep me very busy. I home-schooled my oldest for a couple years but now my two oldest attend one of the schools that I teach at. It is fun to have them in my classes. I am sure you will get to know them as they are my star models in class.

Why a Blog?

I started this blog as a way to reach out to others in the Spanish community. I am enjoying sharing my teaching ideas with you all and hope to learn from you all as well. Stay posted for new blog posts! I can’t wait to learn from each other.
